Phone Nurse Triage

Job Functions

  • Answers and triage patient phone calls along with scheduling patient appointments for sick visits.
  • Schedules follow-up visits from med centers and ER.
  • Consult the physician as necessary.
  • Documents properly in Epic EMR.
  • E-prescribes, after verifying pharmacy and allergies, for patients upon instruction from the physician.
  • Track, and sort, and review all lab/test results/x-ray’s and relay back to patients after interpretation by the physician.
  • Orders and instructs patients regarding preparation for tests.
  • Performs late night duties on a rotating schedule.

Skills & Abilities

  • Critical thinking and triage skills a must.
  • Excellent communication, computer knowledge, and telephone etiquette.
  • HIPPA compliant
  • Good teamwork
  • Dependable

Education & Qualifications

  • Triage experience required.
  • Medical terminology required.
  • Medical office experience preferred.
  • Epic experienced preferred.
